How to Become a Nevada Notary:

Compared to other states, Nevada has few eligibility requirements to become a notary. The process is simple and affordable. Click here to view the eligibility requirements to become a notary in Nevada.

To become a notary in Nevada, follow the steps listed below:

  1. Purchase a four-year, $10,000 notary bond.

    The bond is required by the secretary of state to protect the public from unintentional notary’s errors. Click here to order your Nevada notary bond.

  2. Obtain a filing notice from the county clerk. 

    Take the oath of office in the presence of the county clerk of the county in which you reside and file your notary bond to obtain a filing notice. 

  3. Complete the notary training and pass the exam.

    All notary applicants must enroll in the State of Nevada’s Notary Public Course and pass the State of Nevada Notary Public Exam to be eligible to apply to become a notary public. If you fail the exam, you will need to wait 24 hours before making another attempt. Click here to enroll.

  4. Complete a Nevada notary application on the state’s website. 

    Create a free account on SilverFlume to complete the application online. Print your application and sign it. You will be asked to upload your signed notary application, the filing notice, and your notary bond and to pay the filing fee and exam fee.
